Video: God Is An Astronaut

When it comes to post-rock, Ireland ain’t doing bad and there’s one pair we’re ’specially proud of…it came as absolutely no surprise to hear that God Is An Astronaut had been snapped up for a TV special. I just hadn’t expected the television station would be Turkish. I now hold the country in new respect…why can’t we have Dream TV with a deathly metal show called YUXEXES?

The full range of videos can be seen on YouTube. Read on for the latest Ireland & UK tour dates and more news….

These dates are just a taste of what’s in store for the future now that GIAA have signed a worldwide deal with the live bookings Agency Group, according to their blog. An American tour is in the works with details to be announced at a later date.

Also lifted from MySp, news of the guys’ progress in technological acquisition. Beside their own prolific catalogue of work, the brothers Torsten and Niels have spent the last few years polishing their production skills and Butterfly Explosion’s long-awaited debut album was recorded in their Glen of the Downs studio in Wicklow. BX will be supporting on all the upcoming tour dates. Check out their new album songs on MySpace.

For the techies:

We have been busy upgrading our Studio for the last couple of weeks, we finally finished the upgrade last week to the new Pro Tools HD3 system. For you recording techie types we can record 64 simultaneous tracks of audio and playback 196 tracks, plus endless midi options and an obscene amount of plugins and yes it’s more than we could ever use.

We also are currently upgrading the live show to the new Digidesign venue system so we can have the best live sound possible, it’s a similar system to what NIN was using recently. We are the first band in Ireland to buy the new SC48 live mixing console. Thanks to everyone in Big Bear Sound for all their help in both the studio and live!

Well I don’t understand any of that but it gave me a willies-shiver to imagine the beastly new live experience to come. Happy New Year, God Is An Astronaut!
