On September 14th I came back from End of the Road festival. Exhausted and with achey muscles, I opted out of the trip to Rough Trade to see Laura Gibson, having seen her just a couple of days ago, and knowing I would see her in a couple of days time anyway. Here is a video of her playing the old traditional All The Pretty Little Horses:
She’s right. It’s lullaby-esque, but with a creepy, sinister feeling (birds and flies were pecking his eyes, poor little thing cried mammy). The origin of the song is that it was supposedly sung by black slaves in the 19th century.
